SAT transition words fall into 4 primary logical categories: 1. Contrast (however, nevertheless, conversely, on the other hand). 2. Cause/Effect (therefore, consequently, thus, as a result). 3. Addition (furthermore, additionally, moreover, in addition). 4. Example/Emphasis (for instance, specifically, in fact, indeed).
Transition questions test the logical link between two sentences. Identify the relationship category first before looking at answer choices.
