Standardized test prep is rarely a teenager's idea of fun. However, shifting their perspective from "have to" to "want to" can dramatically improve their focus and scores.
1. Connect Scores to College Goals
Help them research the middle 50% score ranges for the colleges they are actually interested in. When a target score is tied to a specific dream school rather than an arbitrary parental expectation, motivation increases organically.
2. Celebrate Small Wins
A 1500 doesn't happen overnight. Celebrate a 20-point increase in Math. Celebrate them sitting down for a full-length practice test on a Saturday morning. Positive reinforcement on the micro-level sustains long-term effort.
3. Use the Right Tools
Endless static PDFs are demotivating. Interactive, adaptive platforms (like Prepvora) that provide immediate feedback, track progress visually, and eliminate repetitive memorization keep students engaged and accountable.
