Make Your Child More Competitive

With acceptance rates dropping globally, high grades and test scores are often just the baseline to get your application read. How do you stand out?
1. The "Spike" vs. The "Well-Rounded" Student
Colleges aren't necessarily looking for well-rounded students; they are looking to build a well-rounded class. A student with a deep, focused passion (a "spike") in one specific area (like robotics, creative writing, or community organizing) is often more memorable than a student who is moderately involved in ten unrelated clubs.
2. Quality Over Quantity in Extracurriculars
Admissions officers value leadership and impact. Being the founder of a local coding camp carries more weight than being a passive member of five different honor societies.
3. Authentic Essays
The personal statement is the one place where the student's voice comes alive. Encourage them to write about genuine experiences and personal growth rather than trying to guess what the admissions committee "wants to hear."
